Parminder is one of our therapists here at Bridges Therapy Centre, offering counselling to adults from diverse backgrounds with a range of issues. Her approach is based on respect, compassion and understanding, placing clients at the centre of each session.
She uses an integrative approach to counselling, drawing from and combining various therapeutic techniques, where clients can explore their feelings in order to improve their experience of life. As a qualified member of the BACP, Parminder offers Person Centred Therapy, Experiential Therapies, Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Qualifications and Training
Parminder studied at CPPD Counselling School, receiving both a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling, as well as a foundation certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling from The Counselling Foundation. In addition to this, she has completed training in CPD for Trauma, Working with Suicide, Eating Disorders, Psychiatry, Psychopathology and Psychodynamics.
Parminder is registered in the UK as a counsellor with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
Experience
Parminder has previously spent time working as a counsellor at Raphael, The Jewish Counselling Service (CIO), as well as two and a half years working at Brent Bereavement Services. The services that she offers include Person Centred Therapy and Experiential Therapies, as well as incorporating Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Specialisms
Parminder’s work is somatically informed, which involves recognising and adding comfort to uneasy sensations in the body. She aims to build a unique relationship with her counselling clients, sharing her professional understanding to help identify the links between how individuals feel, think, act or don’t act. Within the safe setting she offers, clients can discuss their concerns openly and be heard with empathy – empowering them to make real, positive changes to their lives.
Parminder chose this career path after therapy helped her own life to improve. She enjoys the exploration of what it means to be human and the realisations that can follow, and is passionate about seeing people live better lives.
