Dr Michelle Gershoni
Dr Michelle Gershoni is a counselling psychologist and one of our highly experienced therapists here at Bridges Therapy Centre – offering a collaborative and individualised therapeutic space that caters to the unique needs of her clients. She incorporates skills-based approaches such as CBT and ACT with existential and psychodynamic thinking, to help people to move forward with their therapeutic goals.
Michelle has developed a particular interest in working with selective mutism. As part of her treatment approach, she offers parent and school training, and child-centred individual therapy to help children with selective mutism move from silence to speech.
Michelle is registered with the British Psychological Society and the HCPC.
She has a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, after completing her clinical studies in 2020.
As part of her doctoral research in Counselling Psychology, she examined the experiences of parents delivering behavioural interventions for Selective Mutism.
After spending time living in both London and Israel, Michelle has worked within both the NHS and third sector services, working with children, adolescents and adults. Originally focusing on the addiction recovery and relapse field, she has also spent a number of years helping teenagers struggling with an array of difficulties, including social anxiety, depression, bereavement, and more.
Michelle has always been passionate about furthering her understanding of people and their relationships, which translates into her love for helping others to work through their struggles. With her particular specialism in selective mutism therapy, Michelle is dedicated to helping children to work through their anxiety and find their brave voice. Additionally, after previously living in Israel for 10 years, she is able to incorporate Hebrew into her therapy sessions.
