Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) was developed in the 1970s at the Milwaukee Brief Family Therapy Center by Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg. As is suggested by the name, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is centred around outlining goals and solutions to create a better future. As such, we are proud to offer SFT in our Hendon and Canary Wharf Clinics. Solution-Focused Therapy is one of several therapies delivered by our practitioners.

SFT is a brief therapy approach, often requiring fewer sessions compared to other modalities. It’s also highly adaptable and can be used to address a wide range of concerns, including:

How Does SFT Work?


By outlining triggers and behaviours that exacerbate the problem, the Solution-Focused practitioner at Bridges Therapy Centre will look to how you can make practical steps and solutions to help reduce your problems going forward. This evidence-based therapy is useful for the treatment of physical and imagined issues, and is suitable for the treatment of OCD, PTSD, and other stress-related conditions.
