Experience

Yaara is registered with both the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and British Psychological Society (BPS). She has extensive experience in conducting psychoeducational assessments, systemic work in educational settings, individual and group therapy, focused on primary school and preschool ages.

Yaara provides individual therapy for children with learning, behavioural and emotional challenges and their parents, using psychodynamic approaches, play therapy, CBT and ACT. Systemic work in educational settings means advising staff and parents on how best to support individual children with emotional or learning challenges, conducting whole-school assessments and interventions, and facilitating group sessions with teachers, parents and children. Yaara also led a therapeutic centre in the city, where she oversaw operations and provided direct support to therapeutic staff, as well as facilitating group therapy for children and parents focusing on self-regulation.

Background & Interests

Yaara’s interest in both humanities and science, coupled with a passion for learning and education, led her to a career in psychology, with her interest in CBT growing as she recognised its potential to blend psychological and educational work effectively.

Her personal immigration experience has also deepened her interest in supporting children and parents through cultural transitions and the challenges of navigating new schools, languages, and cultural norms. Before and during her studies, Yaara also worked as a qualified teacher in secondary and post-secondary settings, including special education. She has a passion for art and art history.
